Die Geschichte hinter SAVALION

Founder Story

WHO DECIDED WHAT AN AFRICAN WOMAN COULD BUILD?

ONE SENTENCE WAS MEANT TO BREAK ME.

INSTEAD, IT GAVE ME PURPOSE AND A REASON TO CHANGE THE RULES.

Sometimes one sentence doesn't just change a moment.

It changes the direction you take.

For me, it happened in December 2023 at a Christmas market in Europe, where I was volunteering around Fairtrade coffee.

A couple walked straight to me, the man looked at me and said:

“You can pick the coffee for us. But you will never sell it.”

The sentence was meant to put me in my place.

It did something else.

It made me question the place I was being assigned to.

Hello. I'm Elisabeth, founder of SAVALION.

And that sentence was the beginning of THIS JOURNEY.

I STARTED LOOKING AT COFFEE DIFFERENTLY.

The more I thought about those words, the more I realized they weren't really just about me. They revealed a much bigger problematic way of thinking.

A way of thinking that has shaped global trade for generations: That

Africa grows. Someone else transforms. Someone else brands. Someone else sells. Someone else captures much of the value.

But think about what happens before your first sip.

A coffee farmer's land. Knowledge. The Skill. Work. Time. The Risk and years of
experience.

The story of the coffee begins there.

So why should the story of its value begin somewhere else thousands of kilometers away?

TWO QUESTIONS WOULDN'T LEAVE ME ALONE.

Why do the people who create value at the beginning of the chain so often have so little access to the value created from it?

And:

Why should the story of origin end with cultivation while the story of value begins thousands of kilometers away?

I couldn't accept that these were simply the way things had to be.

Because they aren't.

THIS SYSTEM WAS CREATED BY PEOPLE.

And what people create, people can change.

That was the beginning of SAVALION.

 NOT ANOTHER COFFEE BRAND.

I didn't start SAVALION because the world needs another coffee brand.

There are already plenty.

I started it because I believe we can think differently about where value is created.

What if Africa didn't just grow coffee?

What if Africa processed it?

What if Africa didn't just produce it?

What if Africa roasted it?

What if Africa could package it, build the brand and bring the finished product to the world?

What if African women were not only part of the production story BUT PART OF THE CREATION STORY?

VALUE CREATION. NOT VALUE EXTRACTION.

This is the belief at the heart of SAVALION.

We don't believe Africa should be permanently confined to the role of raw-material supplier.

We believe in an Africa that creates. That processes. That transforms.

That develops brands. That creates jobs. That owns ideas. That participates more in the value it creates.

Because where value is created, opportunities get created too.

For farmers. For women. For young people. For Businesses.  For communities.

Our first coffee that backs OUR VISION will be Organic certified and COMPLETELY MADE IN AFRICA.

Its journey begins in the Ruwenzori Mountains of Uganda. Then continues in Kenya, where it will be processed, roasted and packed by a qualified, EU-certified partner.

And we are deliberately building African participation beyond the farm; including the creative and branding side of the business that is done by creative and
talented African women in Africa.

Because we beleive that the HARVEST should not be the end of AFRICAN COFFEE STORY.

THIS IS NOT CHARITY.

SAVALION is not built around the idea that Africa needs to be saved.

We don't want your guilt. We want only your enjoyment.

Buy the coffee because it's EXCEPTIONAL.

Taste it. Enjoy it.

And know that the product in your hands represents a different way of thinking about value creation from african Raw Materials within Africa.

Because meaningful change can
begin with a purchase.

A purchase that supports a DIFFERENT KIND OF business model.

A business model that creates value.

And value that creates opportunities within Africa.

THIS IS BIGGER THAN COFFEE.

Coffee is where we begin.

But the question is much bigger.

WHAT CAN AFRICA BUILD FROM WHAT AFRICA ALREADY HAS?

We don't have all the answers YET.

We are building them.

And we invite you to be part of it.

COME WITH US.

SAVALION is for people who believe that business can create more than transactions.

For people who believe that origin should mean more than a place on a label.

For people who believe that those who create value should have a greater opportunity to participate in it.

For people who believe African women should have more room to build.

And for people who want to enjoy exceptional coffee while being part of something so meaningful they believe in.

You don't have to agree with every answer.

But we invite you to CONTINUE ASKING the question with us.

 “WHY NOT IN AFRICA?”

“I was told what I could do. Instead, I asked what I could build and found my purpose.”

MADE IN AFRICA. NOT JUST GROWN THERE.

I’m just getting started. Join me on the journey.
